EOLWD SECRETARY LAUREN JONES VISITS METHUEN ARLINGTON NEIGHBORHOOD, INC.
(Lawrence, Massachusetts) – In partnership with MassHire MVWB, Commonwealth Corporation, and the Methuen Arlington Neighborhood, Inc., Secretary Lauren Jones of the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development, visited the Methuen Arlington Neighborhood, Inc., as part of the YouthWorks program funded through the Commonwealth Corporation.
The Methuen Arlington Neighborhood, Inc. (MAN, Inc.) has over 30 youths working as part of the Youthworks Summer Experience Program. Students expressed their personal outcomes while attending MAN, Inc. where conversations about their growth in their skill sets, networking, understanding of the work and careers, and neighborhood responsibilities have provided a wide range of experiences that impact their view on life.
MAN, Inc. Founder and Grant Writer Linda Soucy stated “It is so important to hire youth who live in this neighborhood. This eliminates the transportation barrier and allows youth to thrive and contribute to their community.”
“The Healey-Driscoll administration is committed to investing in Massachusetts’ future talent,” said Secretary of Labor and Workforce Development Lauren Jones. “I commend Methuen Arlington Neighborhood for providing dozens of local YouthWorks participants with employment opportunities right in their local community and exposure to gain essential skills like communication, financial literacy, teamwork, and leadership.”
State Representative Estela Reyes, who represents Methuen in her district said “I know this community and know of the great work of MAN, Inc. This organization has been doing this type of community inclusion for many years. Additionally, I thank Secretary Jones for the visit, the support, and for great conversations with the youth.”
Yvette Garcia, a Merrimack Valley MassHire Workforce Youth Program Specialist overseeing the MAN, Inc youth site stated “It’s so important to expose and nurture young people’s interests in various career and workforce development experiences and Methuen Arlington Neighborhood does just that. They introduce youth to opportunities that make them more engaged in their community and ensure that youth have the tools necessary for a successful future, support them when needed, and broaden their understanding of the working world. Organizations like MAN, Inc are essential to the growth and empowerment of our young people, and we value their partnership.”
Executive Director Frank Bonet thanked Secretary Jones for highlighting the Merrimack Valley, the second visit in one week, to showcase the work of the MassHire Merrimack Valley Workforce Board partners. “I spoke to Secretary Jones and thanked her for all of her support, funding, and visit. Her visit shows and represents the dedication of the EOLWD towards the youth, their career path, and the programs that create future pipelines of the workforce.”

Methuen Arlington Neighborhood, Inc. (MAN, Inc.) tiene más de 30 jóvenes que trabajan como parte del Programa de Experiencia de Verano de Youthworks. Los estudiantes expresaron sus resultados personales mientras asistían a MAN, Inc., donde las conversaciones sobre el crecimiento de sus conjuntos de habilidades, la creación de redes, la comprensión del trabajo y las carreras y las responsabilidades del vecindario han brindado una amplia gama de experiencias que impactan su visión de la vida.
Linda Soucy, fundadora y redactora de subvenciones de MAN, Inc., declaró: “Es muy importante contratar a jóvenes que viven en este vecindario. Esto elimina la barrera del transporte y permite que los jóvenes prosperen y contribuyan a su comunidad”.

La representante estatal Estela Reyes, quien representa a Methuen en su distrito, dijo: “Conozco esta comunidad y sé del gran trabajo de MAN, Inc. Yvette García, Especialista del Programa Juvenil de la Fuerza Laboral de MassHire de Merrimack Valley que supervisa el sitio para jóvenes de MAN, Inc, declaró: “Es muy importante exponer y fomentar los intereses de los jóvenes en diversas experiencias de desarrollo profesional y laboral, y Methuen Arlington Neighborhood hace precisamente eso. Presentan a los jóvenes oportunidades que los hacen más comprometidos con su comunidad y aseguran que los jóvenes tengan las herramientas necesarias para un futuro exitoso, los apoyan cuando es necesario y amplían su comprensión del mundo laboral.
